Where in Rome can you eat delicious panini and pastries, get a frothy cappuccino or an aromatic espresso, and at the same time taste freshly prepared meal-size salads, mouth-watering pasta, and scrumptious meat entrees?
When I travel to a city I have never been, I want to try the most genuine, home-made, typical cuisine in town. Nowadays in European cities (such as Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Berlin, etc.), there are restaurants that propose renovated or different versions of traditional dishes. Some of them succeed in offering creative and delicious dishes, others fail in that attempt. Unfortunately, it is easy to find restaurants with fake cuisines or those who claim their cuisine is genuine when in reality differs a lot from the traditional one. According to Greek Mythology, ambrosia was the food of the gods. In Athens, to me, ambrosia meant souvlaki !!!! Therefore, I invoked Athena – the goddess of wisdom – to pave me the way to one of the best souvlaki spots before leaving Athens. Since Athena is also the goddess of strategy, she guided me to Monastiraki, a charming area near the famous Athenian flea markets.
Going away to Athens for a weekend, I asked my Greek friend, Chrysa, to recommend me her favorites restaurants in Athens. Who would you trust more on eating out in Athens than a local?
The first place she suggested was Oikeion, which is her favorite downtown restaurant in Athens. Located in Kolonaki (which means Little Column in greek) – the most chic and upmarket district in the city – Oikeion was definitely a pleasant surprise. When I got off the taxicab and got a first glance of the restaurant, I knew this was my type of place.
Trevignano is a beautiful village surrounding Bracciano Lake. It is located approximately 35 kilometers North of Rome.
Trevignano is one of the three villages surrounding Bracciano Lake (the other two are Bracciano and Anguillara).
One of the things I love from Trevignano is the walking trail along the peaceful banks of the lake, where you walk by the nature and small cafés.
